Bike bicycle biking bicycling maps
If you have devoted yourself to biking and
if you are planning a biking vacation, you'll find numerous biking paths and trails around
the 741-lehe castle
hotel Kocher-Neckar Rivers. Especially the biking trails along the
rivers Kocher River, Jagst River and Neckar River, invite to charming biking tours. In Bad
Friedrichshall, the bike-hiking trails Kocher-Jagst-biking trail and the Neckartal-biking
trail meet together. If you are planning a bike-hike or a longer biking tour, you should
get some bike-hiking maps or a route planner. The maps are available at the tourist office
Friedrichshall.
Kocher-Jagst biking trail
The Kocher-Jagst biking trail has a total
length of about 350 km. It starts at the fount of the Kocher River near Aalen-Unterkochen,
runs along the Kocher River to Neckar River to Bad Friedrichshall and from there, back
along the Jagst River until Lauchheim. The section which connects Lauchheim and
Aalen-Unterkochen, turns the Kocher-Jagst biking trail into a round trail. Besides the
crossing of the Alb, the Kocher-Jagst biking trail is a relatively easy bike-hiking trail
with only a few easy and medium acclivities. The trail predominantly runs on asphaltic
ways, partly on forest paths.
The biking route leads through the
Hohenloher country, past fortresses and castles. Gentle meadows, narrow sinuosities and
steep vineyard hills alternate on this route. On the way, pretty towns invite to take a
break. From Bad Friedrichshall, upstream the Jagst River, you can follow the traces of
Gotz von Berlichingen. With the towns Mockmuhl (farmer's war), Jagsthausen (birth) and the
monastery Schontal (grave), you can see the domains of the "knight with the iron
fist". The distance from the estuary of the Kocher River in Bad Friedrichshall to the
monastery Schontal is about 88 km.
Neckar River valley biking trail
The Neckar River valley biking trail starts
in Villingen-Schwenningen (Neckar River font) and it ends in Mannheim (estuary of the
Neckar River into the Rhine River). The trail predominantly runs over asphaltic, partly
gravel-, forest- and economic paths. The distance which is steadily slightly leading
downhill (except for one steep rise) is easy to bike on and very well suitable for
children and families. Please note that the distance between Neckargemund and Heidelberg
leads over a road with a lot of traffic.
The main route of the Neckar river valley
biking trail does not run through Bad Friedrichshall itself, but through Bad Wimpfen on
the opposite Neckar River shore. It is reachable if you drive from Bad Friedrichshall on
the federal road B 27 downstream the Neckar River in direction Offenau. Before Offenau,
turn to the Neckar River bridge to Bad Wimpfen. Especially the distance between Bad
Wimpfen and Heidelberg is lined by castles and fortresses.
